A Bad 48 Hours

In the five losses of the season so far, the Mets have been outscored 41-13. That’s pretty bad. The Mets will go as far as their pitching will take them.

Last night Johan Santana didn’t have it. Today, RA Dickey didn’t have it. Neither did the bullpen as they could not stop the Braves from scoring. Also, Mets hitters could not hit with runners in scoring position. It looked as if on a number of occasions the offense was poised to get back in the game. But the clutch hit eluded them and the pitching could not hold the opposition.

So the Mets are now 0-2 in rubber games, something they were not good at last year either. They still maintain a winning record of 7-5 but things looked so much more promising when they were 7-3 after Monday night’s series opener in Atlanta.

Notes: David Wright continues to pound the baseball. His two RBIs today tied him all time with Darryl Strawberry for the franchise record.  Hopefully he will break the mark this coming weekend at home.
